Money Will Be Useless On A Dead Planet.

On September 20, 2025, I stood with millions around the world to Draw The Line. I marched not just as a global citizen, but as a Kenyan whose life has been directly shaped by the climate crisis. My reasons are personal, urgent, and rooted in a deep love for this country.
I participated because:
- I hold a fundamental belief: money will be useless on a dead planet. No amount of profit can compensate for a collapsed ecosystem, for barren fields, or for air that is unsafe to breathe. The pursuit of wealth at the expense of our natural world is a tragic fallacy, and I refuse to accept it.

- I have felt the impacts firsthand. Climate change is not an abstract concept to me. I have experienced the devastating effects of floods that disrupted my education and impacted my well-being. Such events are becoming more frequent and severe, and they leave lasting scars on individuals and communities.
- My own past drives my fight for the future. Growing up, I was often a sad child, aware of environmental degradation but feeling powerless. I do not want future generations to inherit that same sense of loss and anxiety. Every child deserves to grow up with the security of a healthy, stable environment.

The #DrawTheLine campaign’s message against the billionaires profiting from pollution hits home here. While communities bear the brunt of floods, heatwaves and droughts, the systems that cause this suffering continue unchecked. This is why our collective action is vital.
In Kenya, this means defending our natural heritage. Our forests—from the mighty Mau Complex to the delicate coastal woodlands—are under threat. It is a painful reality that even a symbol of conservation victory like Karura Forest is not permanently safe, a reminder that our vigilance can never waiver. When these vital ecosystems are degraded, we all lose our first line of defense against climate change.
With COP30 on the horizon, my march was a demand for real action. We need global leaders to prioritize people over profit and to support nations like Kenya on the frontlines. But change also starts with us. By drawing the line, we commit to protecting every forest, every river, and every child’s right to a safe and hopeful future.
This is our line to draw. For our planet, for our well-being, and for the generations to come.
